The Reef is the largest leisure offering in North Norfolk and represents an investment of £11m from North Norfolk District Council, alongside a grant of £1m from Sports England and the Lottery Fund.
The flagship project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of residents in North Norfolk for years to come, providing services and support which may not be readily available in the District. In designing the facility, the demographic of North Norfolk, visitor/user patterns and population trends were taken into account, making The Reef representative of leisure and fitness in North Norfolk now, and in the future.
The Reef has a 60-station health and fitness suite, including a range of exercise machines and free weights, dance and activities studio which covers an impressive 200sqm, and offers opportunity for group exercise classes and studio sessions.
The Reef Leisure Centre opened it’s doors on Tuesday 30 November 2021, with award-winning leisure operator Everyone Active ready to welcome the public to use the pool, gym and studios for the first time. Prior to facility’s construction, the economic value of Leisure in North Norfolk was £24m; with the opening of The Reef, the economic value will be raised to £26.
Polar are proud to have worked alongside Saunders and Boston Architects & Metnor Construction on this leisure facility for North Norfolk District Council.
