Rowan View

Rowan View is a Medium Secure Mental Health Unit in Maghull, near Liverpool. Costing £53m to complete, the facility has 123-beds located over eight wards including, specialist learning disability and mental health wards; it also has a social hub, bank and IT and physical health suites. Additionally, it has a variety of other facilities including therapy rooms, a multi-faith room, music room, skills for life room, sports hall and gym.

Polar worked closely with the contractor and architects to ensure that the correct products were specified across this site, ensuring a safe, secure but modern approach to the facility. The faceted curtain wall screen at the front of the facility creates an inviting and welcoming main entrance, whilst the courtyards & walkways have plenty of natural light and ventilation.

The new facility represents a step change in care for service users, preparing them for life afterwards. It will deliver innovative treatments to improve recovery times for people with mental health and learning disabilities. The building designed by IBI Group offers an innovative design solution creating a therapeutic and healing environment which aids recovery and reduces length of stay. The unit offers services to male and female patients in single sex ward environments.

This project was built using the ProCure21+ National Framework. The ProCure21+ National Framework is a framework agreement with six Principal Supply Chain Partners (PSCPs) and their supply chains, selected by OJEU tender process for capital investment construction schemes. Any NHS client or joint-venture may use the framework for a capital construction scheme without having to go through the OJEU process themselves.
