Community In A Cube (CIAC) is a mixed-use scheme which forms part of the Will Alsop-masterplanned Middlehaven development and includes 82 apartments above a restaurant and commercial space. It also features courtyards, shared amenities, garden space, a community centre and a pub.
The cube-shaped plan is split into two wings with a central service core to minimise corridor lengths and allow most flats a dual aspect. The building addresses its surrounding public space though specific characterful elements that help form streetscape, while the higher levels of the building address the city.
