Polar has been appointed by IHP (Integrated Health Projects), an established joint venture between VINCI Construction UK and Sir Robert McAlpine, to complete the Design, Manufacturing & Installation of a range of our Healthcare Product Solutions for Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The new hospital will be replacing the existing Park House facility as part of GMMH’s dormitory eradication programme and will comprise of 7no Adult Acute wards, 1no Older Adult Ward and 1no Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, and an S136 unit. These are supported by off ward therapy spaces, gym, café, shop, offices, and staff welfare facilities.
Located at North Manchester General Hospital, the project forms one of the first phases of a wider masterplan for the wider hospital site with sustainability at the heart of the new facility – designed to be able to operate as a net zero carbon building targeting BREEAM Excellent by using many Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
The project forms part of an exciting vision for Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust to improve health and wellbeing for local people over the next 10 to 15 years. The new state-of-the-art unit will see a great improvement to patient experience with:
- Spacious single bedrooms each with private en-suite bathrooms
- A variety of indoor activity areas
- Multiple outside garden spaces
- Modern facilities utilising latest technology and therapeutic design
- An environment that is both conducive to recovery and pleasant to live in, work at and visit.
