Polar has been appointed by Esh Group to help deliver the next phase of Teesside University’s Campus Masterplan – The Buttery.
When complete, the Postgraduate Student Hub will provide collaborative workspaces, quiet study zones, media booths and state of the art digital facilities, as well as a social lounge and refreshment facilities. The plan is to create a vibrant and inspiring new facility with an open, New York style apartment feel, it will offer individual and collaborative work spaces, a quiet zone and a computer lab, as well as a social lounge and refreshment facilities.
Designed by Howard Litchfield Architects, the project will restore the building’s heritage features while creating an innovative environment suitable for modern day use. Parquet flooring, exposed brickwork, timber beams and trusses will be revived, while the addition of mezzanine levels will maximise usage while maintaining light and volume throughout the space. The building design has been carefully engineered to meet the university’s carbon reduction targets and the existing building is being upgraded to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.
Polar will be carrying out the Design & Installation of Kawneer Curtain Walling & Doors on this project.
