New Mental Health Inpatient Unit for West Yorkshire

Polar NE are proud to be working alongside Gilling Dod Architects and Interserve Construction on the new mental health inpatient unit. The unit is a joint venture between Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust (LCH) and Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT), and is being built on the former St Mary’s Hospital site in Armley, Leeds.

The new mental health inpatient unit will provide 22 beds and much-needed improvements and facilities for children and young people across West Yorkshire which will include a range of spacious and therapeutic areas, including a multi-purpose activity room, educational facilities, a family visiting room, courtyards and a green communal space for service users and staff.

The finalised plans for the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) unit were developed with young people and their families and will deliver a high-quality environment and the best possible care for young people.

Polar were chosen to provide support with their knowledge of fenestration and anti-ligature product solutions for these environments, where they will be manufacturing and installing their specialist Humber Secure healthcare windows & Hamble Secure healthcare doors alongside curtain walling, framing systems, sliding doors, automatic doors, fixed windows and top hung windows.
