Around Christmas time we always try to do something to help others who are in need. This year, alongside our Christmas Jumper Day, we also supported Ponteland Runners Foodbank Appeal, collecting goods and funds to support the Newcastle West End Foodbank.
This years appeal proved to be a great success as they managed to collect enough food, drinks and toiletries to completely fill the main packing room at the foodbank, as well as £657 in cash donations. The foodbank team were absolutely overwhelmed with the generosity and the sheer volume of goods provided.
Laura Choake Chair of Ponteland Runners has said how “Things have been hard for many people and families this year, and the work that the West End Foodbank do directly helps people who are often going through the most difficult time of their lives. The ultimate aim is to support people to no longer need the foodbank, and they have huge success in this, but at a vital time when people just need some practical help and kindness to get through the worst of times the foodbank rely on donations like yours to keep going. This year they estimate that over 60,000 people will have used the foodbank, up from 50,000 last year. This makes what your team have done all the more important.”
The food, drinks, toiletries and cash donations were dropped off at Newcastle West End Foodbank on Friday 16th December – requiring 5 cars full to take all the goods!
Polar are very grateful that we could provide support in the form of practical items that we know Newcastle West End Foodbank will distribute to support those who are in need.
